Models & Options

All Tunguska Guitars models come in three varieties, “Standard”, “Custom” and “Artist”. Each level has it’s own perks. Standards are just what they sound like – our base models (which are still quite groovy). The Custom level gives you some input into the discussion. You want a P-90, a Hot Rail and a beefy Humbucker? No problem. Floyd Rose or a wraparound hard tailpiece? You got it. Let’s talk. The Artist level takes all of that and goes even further. We can modify any of our models to your specs, utilize any special wood (or piece of something personal) you have an integrate it into the instrument. We can also sit down with you and design your ultimate axe from fresh scratch. You know what we’re talking about. The one you dreamed up listening to (insert your fave band here) albums in high school, the one you saw yourself with on a fog-filled stage in front of adoring masses under laser skies.

For example, here are a couple Victors. The first is a Custom build with a burl maple top, hand-wound pickups and made to be a little lighter. The second is “Keefe”, a total reimagining of the original Victor designed from the ground up to utilize one incredible piece of live-end cherry and a bridge and tailpiece forged from blowtorch-bent 3/8″ steel rod.

CURRENT LINEUP

Stanford Solidbody

The original, the first from-scratch design with a nod to Parker and Rickenbacker. A bit of a rockabilly box designed for a gritty crunch that cleans up ever so nicely.

v4 Solidbody

An offset crunch machine with notes of Explorer and Jaguar.
Cut thin for better weight control and surprising resonance with extreme access to the high end of the fretboard. Wrap-around bridge can be replaced with through-body tailpiece. Humbuckers, V/V/T.

Victor SemiHollow

A modern interpretation of baroque sensibilities. Timeless, smooth. Plays as nicely as a jazz box as it does an arena rock monster.
Clear and punchy, sustain for days, just enough acoustic volume for late night writing sessions while the rest of the world sleeps.

Available in standard thickness, or a ‘slimline’ version, ideal for folks that want a lighter axe that still plays like a heavy hitter.

Mach V Solidbody

Unique and off the wall, deceptively simple but impossible to ignore. The m5 was inspired by the Mach 5 of Speed Racer fame with an offset droptop and a multitude of pickup selection/splitting options (via push-pull pots and a Free-Way selector switch). Another sustain machine. All versions feature contrasting top and body (either by paint, stain, or natural wood choices.

kZ1 SemiHollow (coming soon)

A true semi-hollow in the traditional sense. Bent laminate sides, solid center block, a huge range of tones. Coming Spring 2025

Kaiju (coming spring 2025)

We took the Victor concept and reeled it in a little, making for instruments with the same vibe but a little more traditional in appearance. Same multi-layered approach to the tops and bodies, same range of available tones.

Jaz (coming spring 2025)

Another variant on the original Victor, the Jaz is a bit more on the mellow side. Though not a full-depth jazz box, it has a modern take on that tone.

mS17 Multiscale (coming soon)

Our take on the iconic T-style guitar on steroids. Top and body are contrasting wood, dual “single-coil as humbucker” pickup design for bridge and neck positions. Multiscale neck, 7 strings. This one breathes fire.

v6 Solidbody

For those that want a traditional SSS or HSH configuration, the v6 is a bolt-on tone machine. Using a combination of push-pull pots and a standard 5-way switch, this beast can deliver multitudes of tonal variety.

gL1 Bass (coming early 2025)

No lineup would be complete without a low end representative. The gL1 is an adept in that arena. Elegant with a little swagger, with a contrasting maple top over black limba body. Resonant and surprisingly agile with extreme high-fret access for those so inclined.

The Specials

One-off experiments that became available-to-order models

Phoenix

Another in our line of not-like-any-other axes to grind on. The Phoenix is a statement. Distressed spalted ash top with resin-filled voids, hand-carved-back black walnut body. Copper inlay between control surface and main top, individual hand-machined copper tailpieces.

cX-1 Solidbody

Single-coil visitation from the ghost of the 80’s. Shiny (with some delicious bits of relic), guaranteed to have you dive-bombing in the rain on top of derelict buildings (under a waning blood moon peering through wind-swept clouds, of course).

Barbarella Doubleneck

Tunguska Guitars Barbarella Doubleneck

Retro nightmare bonkers raygun vibe machine. For those moments when you need to shift between bass, electric, and acoustic tones. Or just want people to wonder what’s wrong with you. Features Tunguska Custom or Lace Alumitone Pickups, Fishman or Ghost piezo bridge, and swagger for parsecs.

The Mouse – Baritone Electric Ukulele

‘Cause…well, why not. We had a request for something a little different, and decided it was just too cool an idea to pass up. Guaranteed to make you stand out, and it sounds bonkers cool. 20″ scale, EADG tuning.

Standard version will have a simple 4-pole pickup, Custom and Artist versions add a piezo pickup under the hand-carved bridge’s saddle. Carved from a single slab of wood, can be tweaked with any number of flourishes to make it your own
